Additional torque is needed for acceleration, particularly for spontaneous overtaking. This is where the electric motor`s best feature comes in: high torque that’s there from the first rev. The additional power is then carried directly tot the drive wheels via the eight-speed automatic transmission, making the BMW ActiveHybrid 7`s acceleration noticeably more dynamic.
